What is Öko-Tex? While most of us know about harmful chemicals in toys, we were surprised to learn that many of the same chemicals are also used in bedding and can enter the body through inhalation and skin contact. Öko-Tex is a European standard that tests for chemicals like lead, flame retardants, phthalates and pesticides in textiles.
